  • Kevin Webb

    An entrepreneur with over 30 years’ experience in investing and building successful businesses throughout the U.S., Kevin is the founder of Accord. Beyond being the driving force behind Accord’s investment strategy, he provides mentorship and guidance to the entire team. As an entrepreneur himself, Kevin brings a valuable perspective to the firm’s investments, connecting with business operators on a personal level. Prior to Accord, he founded and managed several successful businesses, ranging from startups to acquisitions to turnarounds, in a variety of industry sectors including hospice, home health care, hospital, real estate, and lending. He’s seen a lot in his time, which enables him to offer expert strategic guidance to each of Accord’s valued clients. Kevin received his MBA from the University of Texas and his Bachelor of Science in Economics from George Mason University. When he’s not working, he enjoys surfing and spending time with his wife and kids in their home in La Jolla, CA.

  • Mark Borneleit
    Managing Director

    Mark has over 25 years of finance, healthcare, and operating experience, and has been Managing Director at Accord since 2005. He’s responsible for identifying, evaluating, structuring, and executing investments in new portfolio companies. Mark also participates on the board and takes on CEO or CFO roles in portfolio companies as needed, actively advancing the management, growth, and monetization of Accord’s businesses. Prior to joining Accord, he spent 10 years working as an investment banker for Growth Capital Partners, a boutique Houston based investment banking firm, where he helped middle-market companies execute mergers & acquisitions, source institutional debt and equity capital, and sell their businesses to strategic and financial buyers. Mark graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics, with a concentration in finance and accounting.

  • Chris Lackner
    Managing Director

    From evaluating new investments to providing strategic support to current portfolio companies to managing the team, Chris is responsible for Accord’s overall performance. The firm has grown a lot since he joined as a financial analyst in 2013, and he has evolved along with it, moving from VP to Director to his current position as Managing Director overseeing a robust network of assets and the infrastructure needed to support them. Chris is the first and foremost face of Accord for many clients, and as a flexible, strategic partner dedicated to building lasting relationships, he embodies the values on which Accord was founded. He received both his undergraduate degree in Accounting and his MBA from Oklahoma State University. On the weekends, you can find Chris hiking or at the beach along with his wife, their young son, and their three dogs.

  • Kyle Shepherd
    Senior Associate

    As a Senior Associate, Kyle assists with developing the firm’s corporate structure as well as assisting in due diligence for both buy and sell side oppurtunities. Since joining Accord in 2015, he has helped to manage a growing list of clients with data analytics and strategic growth strategies, ensuring each business is on the best track to growth. Before joining Accord, Kyle spent five years in Marine intelligence, unique and valuable experience that he leverages to the benefit of the firm’s complex network of assets. He is an integral member of the organization’s close-knit team and supportive culture. Kyle received a bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Accounting from Oklahoma State University. He lives in San Diego with his wife and two young kids and enjoys fishing and days at the shooting range.

  • Evan Brugger

    Evan supports Accord’s portfolio company initiatives, assists in due diligence on both the buy and sell sides, and conducts important industry research for the firm. Before joining Accord in 2018, he worked as a corporate financial analyst and was always looking for ways to expand the automation of his role. Evan has put his corporate finance skills to work in an entirely new asset class at Accord, and with a more hands-on approach. In keeping with Accord’s Oklahoma roots, he earned a Bachelor’s in Economics and Finance from the University of Tulsa in 2014 before completing his Master’s in Finance from the University of Tulsa in 2017 (while working fulltime in the corporate world). An avid history buff and sports fan, Evan still roots for his Thunder and Chiefs from his new home in San Diego.

  • Shawn Meador

    Shawn plays important roles in both evaluating new investment opportunities and supporting the current businesses in Accord’s portfolio. Before joining Accord, he worked at an investment management firm in Chicago where he was responsible for screening and underwriting new investment opportunities within the leveraged lending space (senior/junior debt, minority equity co-investments). Shawn graduated from the Mendoza School of Business at the University of Notre Dame with a BBA in Finance, as well as a second major in Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics. He loves the investment flexibility of working in a family office (and the weather in San Diego doesn’t hurt either). When he’s not on the lookout for new investment opportunities, you can find Shawn at the beach, hiking with his golden retriever, Jaxon, or watching the Brooklyn Nets or Tennessee Titans.

  • Stacie Kim

    As Controller, Stacie is responsible for ensuring that the financial reporting of each of Accord’s portfolio companies is accurately presented. She plays a critical role in contributing to the success of both the firm and its clients, establishing sound policies and procedures to create a framework for producing financial statements with integrity. Prior to joining Accord, Stacie spent seven years at The Carlyle Group, where she was responsible for the management of all aspects of financial reporting and investor relations, including fundraising and fund structuring primarily for the European Real Estate funds. She has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from The College of William and Mary as well as a Master’s in Taxation from The University of Virginia. When she’s not crunching numbers for Accord, Stacie can be found watching or playing sports, woodworking, or traveling the world.

  • Josh Baker
    Accounting Manager

    Josh oversees accounting for Accord, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of its financial statements. Josh is a CPA with a strong knowledge of GAAP in the areas of revenue, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and equity. He brings hands-on experience in audit interface, variance analysis, financial statement preparation, financial statement analysis, and due diligence. Before joining Accord, Josh worked in a variety of industries, including investments, healthcare, employee benefit plans, not-for-profits, medical devices, and information services. He received his Bachelor’s in Business Administration with an option in Accountancy from CSU San Marcos. When he’s not crunching numbers for Accord, Josh can be found running on the beach or watching football or basketball. He can’t wait to welcome his first born to the world in November 2020.

  • Shannon Dennis
    Accounts Payable

    A dedicated professional with meticulous attention to detail, Shannon helps provide financial, administrative, and clerical support to a number of Accord’s valued clients. She is integral to the firm’s collaborative culture and continues to learn and grow under Controller Stacie Kim. Prior to joining Accord in the spring of 2020, Shannon managed Accounts Payable for an elevator service provider in San Diego. She received a bachelor’s degree in Organizational Management from Ashford University and is currently working toward an accounting certificate from UCSD. A San Diego native, Shannon likes to get outside whenever possible, riding bikes at the beach, golfing, going to concerts, and spending time with her daughter.

  • Matt Locke
    Vice President of IT

    Matt oversees information technology for Accord and each of the companies in its management portfolio. In addition to managing the technical aspects of the firm’s IT network, he plays an important role in helping to define roadmaps to success for Accord’s clients. Matt is passionate about helping the firm’s portfolio companies improve the quality of life of those they serve. Prior to joining Accord, he worked as a network administrator and helpdesk supervisor for a management and investments company in the commercial real estate sector. Matt studied Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services and Programming at Mount San Jacinto College as well as Physics and Advanced Algorithms through MIT OCW. When he’s not solving IT puzzles for the firm or its clients, you can find him spending time with his wife and two kids.

  • David Townsend
    IT Support Specialist

    As IT Support Specialist, David is responsible for frontline IT for the firm’s mainland entities. He keeps our networks connected and our devices humming in an increasingly technology-driven business environment. David received a BS in Industrial Technology and Operations Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. While attending, he worked in the Information Technology Services department where he discovered his love for problem solving oriented work and IT in general. When he’s not solving Accord’s tech problems, David enjoys impromptu road trips with his wife and competitive downhill skateboarding.
